In their hunt for exceptional fashion at great prices, Saks OFF 5TH shoppers expect a high-quality shopping experience, and want to know they are buying the latest popular and trending items. Saks OFF 5TH was interested in a solution to further elevate the customer experience while guiding shoppers to more informed purchase decisions through dynamic content. Ultimately, the company was looking for a sustainable way to improve engagement, increase conversion and drive revenue per visitor (RPV) sales.

The Solution

Taggstar’s real-time social proof messaging solution proved the perfect fit for Saks OFF 5TH. The solution increases engagement and helps shoppers make better and quicker purchase decisions by highlighting what other similar shoppers are buying. So far, it has allowed Saks OFF 5TH to deliver more dynamic customer experiences and provide reassurance to customers across the ecommerce site by demonstrating what items are popular and what’s trending within each product category. 

The company ran a two-week evaluation of Taggstar’s real-time social proof messaging in early November in the U.S. This comprised a full-funnel rollout across the product listing page (PLP), product detail page (PDP) and cart on desktop and mobile. The test encompassed a complete range of 13 message types, including messages such as “In Demand X sold in the last 7 days,” “Popular X people are looking at this,” and “Great choice X number added to bag.”

The Results

The proof of concept delivered an impressive 6.22% increase in conversion (CVR) and a 5.23% increase in RPV, outpacing Saks OFF 5TH’s already high expectations of a 2-4% uplift.

The Future

The initial success has led to excitement for expanding the use of real-time social proof messaging within the business. This could include additional messages such as dynamic real-time category bestsellers, creative placements, optimizations, attribute messaging and the integration of review data to influence the buying decision further.
