Discount retailer Aldi is Britain’s fifth-largest supermarket, operating more than 970 stores in the UK and attracting a huge customer base to its range of exclusive brands in food, drink and Specialbuys. The company launched its Specialbuys middle aisle in 2008 and the exclusive deals are now much sought after by customers and often sell out quickly both online and in store.
Aldi originally launched with social proof messaging in 2018 and saw great results, but wanted to extend the messaging to its app. A successful four-and-a-half-month trial, which began in May 2021, saw a good conversion uplift.
